Africa has many faces. The media narratives mostly run between "Africa rising" and "continent of crises". In the spirit of sustainable development goals, VIDC Global Dialogue invites scientists, experts and activists from Africa for discussion, comments on EU-Africa relations from a civil society perspective and supports the engagement of the African diaspora. Our aims are to strengthen the analytical discourse on Africa in Austria and to establish Africa knowledge networks.

VIDC Global Dialogue has been following events in the Middle East for many years. The work initially concentrated on Israel, Palestine and Turkey, but with the uprisings that began in Tunisia and Egypt in 2011, the focus shifted to those countries where numerous social movements had formed and were increasingly involved in political events. This was also the case in Syria, whose developments are a recurring theme in VIDC Global Dialogue discussions. In addition, Afghanistan has emerged as an important regional focus due to close cooperation with the Afghan Diaspora in Austria.
